HOW TO: 3 TIPS FOR STYLING YOUR OFFICE WITH PURPOSE

Being a minimalist-ish stylist sometimes feels like an oxymoron. I’m suppose to cluster and stack until I’m blue in the face, but sometimes I don’t want to LOL. I’d rather store something in that seemingly empty vase rather than having it sitting pretty (and dusty) but can you have a well styled space that’s also extremely useful or is this a unicorn idea? I’m using my newly refreshed office nook to put this to the test and hopefully inspire you to look at how you style a little differently. Don’t get me wrong I completely understand the multi-appeal and purpose of empty vases. Shoot, I love a well designed vase as much as the next person, but if you’d like to have your pretty be a little more useful, keep reading to see the three things you’ll need to do just that!

DIY: WOOD JEWELRY ORGANIZER

I love showing you guys our home, obviously, it’s kind of my job but what you rarely see is the DIY projects I do that make little things simpler. Take for instance, the jewelry organizer in our closet. It actually came to life by accident. Years ago a Pier One was closing and they were selling off their fixtures. I was able to snag a few wooden plate trays with no clue what I’d use them for (it’s the conscientious hoarder in me). I quickly realized they’d be perfect for holding my jewelry instead of hammering hundreds of nails in the wall. I simply attached the “stand” to the wall and hung my jewelry on its pegs.

DIY: THE MOP MOBILE

While I’m definitely not afraid of fringe and love a good tassel or two, I tend to be more on the clean lines side of design. That being said, I couldn’t pass up the chance to get a little relaxation in while working on a spontaneous “fringy” project (that just so happened to be free!).

DIY: PEGS AND SHELVES

Okay people, this DIY has a drill involved, but remember, drills just make holes lol. I know the minute you see a power tool, it’s like “welp, I won’t be doing this!” but trust me, a screw driver and a thick screw will suffice! Now come on grandma, let’s get started. This is a twofer project because not only do I show you how to make the simplest shelf ever, but also how to make a cute wood peg for it to hang on. You’ll thank me later for the double assignment!

DIY: THE EASIEST BENCH EVER

I introduce, the BENCHMAN TABLE – One part bench, one part ottoman and one part table! Guys, this project was so easy that it probably took me 30 minutes from start to finish. You’ll be amazed at how using just a few added details really turn this “table with legs” into a conversational piece, no matter what room you add it to!
